The James C. Kennedy Mountain Campus is building its team so that the facility can operate on a year-round basis.  The team consists of full-time staff members as well as seasonal staff who work during the various operational seasons.

  • Stuart Halsall - Associate Vice Chancellor for the Kennedy Mountain Campus, Wellness and Recreation

    Stuart Halsall officially joined the University of Denver on May 1, 1999, and has served in a number of positions for the Division of Athletics and Recreation over 23 years.  On May 16, 2022, Halsall accepted the role of Associate Vice Chancellor, Kennedy Mountain Campus, Wellness & Recreation. He brings more than two decades of facilities, sports, recreation, wellness, and events administration experience, building a reputation for developing quality operations, programs and services and developing great teams, relationships, and partnerships.  He is an experienced executive with a demonstrated history of achievement in higher education and is charged with realizing the University of Denver’s vision of the James C. Kennedy Mountain Campus. 

  • Matt Jensen - Director of the Outdoor Experience and Programs

    Matt Jensen joined the division of the James C. Kennedy Mountain Campus, Wellness, and Recreation in the summer of 2022 as the Director of Outdoor Experience and Programs. Matt brings nearly two decades of experience curating outdoor experiences that cultivate personal growth through exploration and challenge. An experienced leader in higher education recreation, Matt has a proven track record in the ground-up development of recreational services and programs, operations, and facilities.  

  • Katie Hecker - Director of the Kennedy Mountain Campus Operations, Events and Outreach

    Katie Hecker joined the University of Denver’s Division of Kennedy Mountain Campus, Wellness & Recreation in the Fall of 2022 as the Director of Kennedy Mountain Campus Operations, Events and Outreach. She comes to the Kennedy Mountain Campus with experience from across the country in events, logistics, programs, higher education, and facilities in remote settings. Throughout Katie’s career, she has demonstrated a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. Katie's goal is to be a partner in success for each event.  

  • Nathan Page - Assistant Director of the Outdoor Experience and Programs

    Nathan Page joined the Division of Kennedy Mountain Campus, Wellness & Recreation team in the fall of 2022; serving as the Interim Assistant Director of Outdoor Programs & Experiences.  Nathan has a strong passion for experiential education and loves helping diverse groups of students discover and learn about their outdoor selves. Nathan comes to the university with over a decade of outdoor instructing experience and over 5 years working as a manager and creative within higher education. When not working to execute the mission of DU at the Kennedy Mountain Campus, you will find him running, climbing, sewing, and searching for the best cup of coffee in the Front Range.  

  • John Parker - Mountain Campus Operations Manager

    John Parker is the Operations Manager at the University of Denver James C. Kennedy Mountain Campus. He joined the University of Denver in October 2021.  John managed the property for 15 years as Site Manager for the Girl Scouts of Colorado prior to the purchase of James C. Kennedy Mountain Campus by the University in September 2021. His background is in construction, business, and property management.  

    John is active in the Red Feather Lakes area communities and has served as Chairman of the Board for the North 40 Mountain Alliance, a local community nonprofit which serves as liaison to local residents and Larimer County Emergency Services and also operates the local food bank, since January 2018.   He was the construction advisor, project manager, and grant writer for the Red Feather Lakes Colorado Community Library off-grid solar project and served as liaison with Poudre Valley REA on the Red Feather Lakes Colorado microgrid project. 

  • Seth Parker - Mountain Campus Maintenance Technician

    Seth has been working at the James C. Kennedy Mountain Campus since October 2021.  He previously worked as a Maintenance Technician at the property for the Girl Scouts of Colorado.  Seth works hard to steward the property and provide a quality environment for its guests. 

  • Christopher Serafin - Mountain Campus Maintenance Technician

    christopher.serafin@du.edu 

    Chris Serafin joined the maintenance staff at James C. Kennedy Mountain Campus in January of 2023. He has over a decade of experience in forestry and ranch stewardship. He has an associate’s degree in fire science and is a captain on the local volunteer fire department with 12 years of service and has been a member of the county's search and rescue team for 8 years.
