Repayment Help

The Bursar's Office at the University of Denver is responsible for managing the collection of student charges and Perkins loans. Our office strives to educate students and their families with payment plan options to help obtain their educational goals at the University of Denver.

Types of Loan

Perkins Loans

The Federal Perkins Loan Program is a need-based loan that has been guaranteed by the Federal Government. The Perkins loan must be used for educational expenses while in attendance at the University of Denver. These expenses may include tuition, fees, books, room & board and transportation.

Important: Under federal law, the authority for schools to make new Perkins Loans ended on Sept. 30, 2017. As a result, students can no longer receive Perkins Loans.

Having a Hard Time Repaying Your Perkins Loans?

You might be qualified for deferment and forbearance.

If you're facing specific circumstances that increase the difficulty of repaying your Perkins loans, such as financial hardship, military service or further education, you may qualify for Loan Deferment, which will allow you to defer payment for a set period of time without accruing interest.

Forbearance is stoppage of student loan payments for financial reasons, an option typically used when borrowers don't qualify for financial deferment. Forbearance is limited to three years, during which interest will continue to accrue.

Visit our Loan Deferment & Forbearance page for more information, along with forms that will allow you to apply for deferment & forbearance.
