How do I register for graduation?
Please register using MyDU.
The deadline to register for graduation is Friday, August 12 at Noon MT.
Where should graduates and guests park?
Please park in Lot L, on East Asbury Avenue. There is no charge for commencement parking.
How do graduates order their regalia?
Eligible graduates may order online through the DU Bookstore here.
What should graduates wear and bring with them?
Graduates, please wear your academic regalia and bring a photo ID with you. Please do not bring bags or purses; there is no place to store items during the ceremonies.
What time should graduates arrive?
Graduates should arrive between 8:30 – 9:00 a.m.
Graduates should enter the building through the northwest doors, adjacent to the Barton Lacrosse Field, where they will be checked in by staff from the Registrar’s Office.
What time will doors open for guests?
Doors to Magness Arena will open at 8:30 a.m.
Are tickets required for guests?
No, tickets are not required for guests.
Is guest seating in Magness Arena assigned, or can I sit wherever I want?
All seating is General Admission.
Can graduates or guests bring food or drink with them?
Water will be available on the Ritchie Center concourse, but no food or drinks are permitted inside Magness Arena.
How long will the commencement ceremony last?
Approximately 2 hours. A University Reception, with light food and beverages, will be held outside of the Ritchie Center following each ceremony.
Will the ceremony be live-streamed for loved ones who cannot attend in person?
Yes, the ceremony will be live-streamed from the DU website.
What time should we make lunch reservations?
We recommend a lunch reservation at 12:30 or 1:00 p.m.
After the ceremonies end graduates and their guests can have time to take photos, enjoy the University Reception, and then travel away from campus for dinner or lunch. There is a great deal of pedestrian and vehicular traffic around the Ritchie Center on graduation days, so please give yourselves enough time.
I am a graduate who has an ADA request for accommodation. Who should I contact?

What are the accommodations for guests who need mobility assistance?
The drop-off entrance for guests with mobility needs is on the north side of the Ritchie Center, off of Buchtel Blvd. Guests with mobility needs can then take the elevator up to the main floor of the Ritchie Center. The ADA sections in Magness Arena for guests are Sections 4, 8, 14, and 18. Can the University provide guests with use of a wheelchair?
DU does not have wheelchairs for guest use. Please contact any of the following vendors for a wheelchair rental. These companies are not affiliated with DU, and as such, students and/or guests are responsible for arranging, paying for and picking up their rentals.
Each of these companies requires that you call in advance to reserve a chair.

How and when will graduates receive their commencement photos?
A professional photography team will capture two photos of all graduates, both a formal portrait and a photo of the graduate walking across the stage. Proofs will be emailed to graduates approximately one month after commencement.
When will graduates receive diplomas?
The Office of the Registrar will mail diplomas in late September. Graduates should be sure that their preferred address is updated with DU.
Are there any special COVID protocols of which I should be aware?
As of June 24, 2022 there are no COVID protocols in effect for the August 20, 2022 commencement ceremony.
If any changes need to be enacted, we will update this commencement website and send out an email to registered graduates.
