What is Nvivo?
NVivo is a qualitative and mixed-methods data analysis software tool.
A note on compatibility with Previous Versions of NVivo:
If you Install NVivo 15 on a machine that already has NVivo 14 both versions will remain on the machine, running side by side and could create conflicts. Please Deactivate and uninstall NVivo 14 before installing NVivo 15.
Please Deactivate your license for NVivo before uninstalling from your device (see below).
How do I start using Nvivo?
If you would like NVivo 14 or 15, please click here.
A .zip folder for NVivo will be shared with you through transfer.du.edu. Once you log in, you should see the folder with installation materials.
After you unzip the “NVIvo.zip” folder, you will see a folder titled “NVivo 15” where the “NVIvo 15 64bit 1.exe” is located, which will install NVIvo 15. Make sure to install this file first and please follow the on-screen instructions.
Then double click and install the "NVivo 15 for DU License Activator.exe” This will place the license on your machine where it needs to be for software licensing purposes. You do not need to login to NVivo as it should already be licensed.
You will follow the same process for Mac but, you will install the files that have the .pkg file extension in the NVivo 15 folder. “NVivo 15 for DU.pkg” first then, “NVivo 15 for DU License Activator.pkg” is second.
If you have a Mac, when running the .pkg file, you may need to go to Settings > Privacy & Security and click “Open Anyway” to run the licensing package (as pictured below).
