Threat Monitor and Protection

One of the main functions of the Information Security team is to monitor and take necessary action on threats and attacks to the University’s technology infrastructure.  We do this by using a variety of advanced software tools, automated collection of threat intelligence feeds, and community reports.
In addition, the University offers users software to protect them from digital threats:

  • Crowdstrike Virus Endpoint Protection: Computer viruses and other forms of malware could be a vector for identity theft and data breaches. The University is committed to helping faculty, staff, and students protect their computers and information. The University licenses Crowdstrike Falcon Agent software to provide advance endpoint protection with a lightweight agent that runs automatically on the background after installed.  The software can be used for both DU own and personal devices.  Click here for more information about Crowdstrike.
  • ProofPoint Email Protection:  Proofpoint consists of several layers that together help ensure that community members receive fewer phishing emails, less spam, and helps prevent emails with malicious attachments from being delivered to inboxes.  In addition, Proofpoint offers a way for the community to easily report spam and malicious emails to our team.  Click here for more information about Proofpoint.
  • LastPass Password Manager: LastPass saves your passwords and gives you secure access from every computer and mobile device making it easy to keep your critical information safe and secure.  Click here for more information about LastPass.
  • Email Encryption with o365/Outlook: Encrypting an email message ensures HIPAA and FERPA compliance. This is relevant to the entire DU Community; however, specific schools and departments working with HIPAA data are strongly encouraged to leverage email encryption wherever appropriate.  Click here for more information about email encryption.
