About SOCA

Our Mission

The Staff of Color Association (SOCA) brings University of Denver staff together to foster community, encourage learning and engagement, and celebrate the diverse cultures and experiences represented across our community.

SOCA works to:

  • Create welcoming spaces for conversation and community,
  • Foster a sense of belonging across experiences and perspectives,
  • Encourage learning and the exchange of ideas,
  • Create opportunities for staff, faculty and students to connect, and
  • Contribute to a campus culture grounded in respect, dignity and understanding.

SOCA is open to all University of Denver staff, regardless of race, color or national origin.

Our Vision

SOCA envisions a University community where people are welcomed and respected across differences. We seek to foster a culture grounded in dignity, fairness, caring and mutual respect through individual and collective learning, engagement and understanding.

SOCA History

SOCA began in 2011 with support from the Center for Multicultural Excellence and has since provided opportunities for DU staff to come together through events, conversations and shared experiences.

Over the years, SOCA has continued to evolve while remaining focused on community, learning and engagement. Today, SOCA welcomes staff from across the University to participate, exchange perspectives and contribute to a welcoming campus community.
