Compassion Convention

Coming in Winter 2027 and modeled after the high-energy, eclectic, and fun Comic-Con, the half-day Compassion Convention (Com-Con) will bring together faculty, staff, and students from across campus to consider the question, “How do we DU compassion?” The convention will include a keynote address by a compassion and character education scholar and an interactive ideation session titled, “Conquering the Com-Con Que: ‘How do we DU compassion?’”  This exercise will allow the DU community to consider important questions to inform our collective approach to compassion education, such as, “Who do we want our students to be as compassionate citizens dedicated to the public good?” “Where in our work does compassion show up?” and “How is compassion already deeply embedded in our DU identity?” and “What does it mean to engage compassion at the ‘right’ times, for the ‘right’ reasons, and for the ‘right’ outcomes?”
