  • USG Paid Position Office Hours Program

    The purpose of the paid office hours program is to increase access of elected and appointed student leaders to students, organizations, and the DU Community at large. Additionally, the program demands accountability to one’s duty as a student leader.  
     

    The positions included in the paid office hours program are elected or appointed and confirmed per the processes outlined in the USG Bylaws (Article II, Section 3 and Article V)
     

    Expectations of Paid USG Positions:  

    1. Host regular "office hours" throughout the 10 weeks of each academic quarter (Fall, Winter, Spring) 
       
    2. Office hours shall be held in the Community Commons Undergraduate Lounge – room 3600 (in the USG studio office within the Undergraduate Lounge)
       
    3. A report of duties/activities completed during office hours included in committee report-outs at Senate Meetings weekly. 
       
    4. The USG Advisor is the primary point of contact for the presiding President Pro-Tempore regarding all USG matters within the USG office space in the Undergraduate Lounge.  
       
    5. USG Officer availability will be published in the Pulse, Crimson Connect, and with Community Commons Front Desk quarterly.
       

    2023-2024 Position Responsibilities:

    Compensation for all positions paid monthly over 9 month period for a single academic year. 
     

    President (elected by undergraduate student body during USG elections)
    Compensation:

    • Serves as a temporary, non-benefitted monthly employee
    • $7,200 per academic year / $800.00 monthly 

    Responsibilities

    • Sits on various institution wide committees 
    • Attend Undergraduate Council Meetings 
    • Attend Senate meetings 
    • Run Executive meetings 
    • Work late/early hours as needed 
    • Meet monthly with VC Student Affairs, Chancellor, Provost 
    • Present quarterly to the Board of Trustees 
    • Fundraise for student engagement at large 
    • Track overall functions and proceedings of the USG 
    • Respond to emails within 48 hours (preferred 24 hours) 
       

    Vice President (elected by undergraduate student body during USG Elections)
    Compensation:

    • Serves as a temporary, non-benefitted monthly employee
    • $7,200 per academic year / $800 monthly

    Responsibilities:

    • Sits on various institution wide committees 
    • Work with the Pro-Tempore to oversee Committee Chairs 
    • Prepare for and run Senate Meetings 
    • Attend Executive meetings 
    • Work late/early hours as needed 
    • Meet monthly with VC Student Affairs
    • Present quarterly to the Board of Trustees 
    • Track overall functions and proceedings of the USG 
    • Respond to emails within 48 hours (preferred 24 hours) 
       

    President Pro-Tempore (elected Senator appointed to President Pro-Tempore role by USG President, following USG elections)
    Compensation

    • Serves as a temporary, non-benefitted monthly employee
    • $4,800 per academic year / $533.33 monthly

    Responsibilities

    • Attend Senate and Executive meetings 
    • Hold regular weekly office hours for student walk in questions/concerns 
    • Process all legislation in the Senate 
    • Maintain USG Teams/OneDrive folders for easy access 
    • Track Committee Chair work and progress by holding consistent meetings 
    • Check in with Senators working on various projects 
    • Assist the President and Vice President with various projects 
    • Respond to emails within 48 hours (preferred 24 hours) 
       

    Speaker of the Executive (appointed to Speaker of the Executive role by USG President, following USG elections)
    Compensation

    • Serves as a temporary, non-benefitted monthly employee
    • $4,800 per academic year / $533.33 monthly

    Responsibilities

    • Attend Senate and Executive meetings 
    • Make recommendations on behalf of Executive Branch
    • Consolidate Quarterly Reports by the Executive Branch
    • Hold weekly Executive Branch meetings
    • Attend Executive meetings (Student Relations, Student Advocacy, and Operations)
    • Maintain the USG Executive Teams folder
    • Organize and check-in Executive Directors and Executive Chairs
    • Work alongside the President and Vice President and various initiatives
    • Respond to emails within 48 hours (preferred 24 hours)

     

    Justice Primus (appointed to Justice Primus role by USG President, following USG elections)
    Compensation

    • Serves as a temporary, non-benefitted monthly employee
    • $4,800 per academic year / $533.33 monthly

    Responsibilities

    • Attend Senate and Executive meetings 
    • Make recommendations on behalf of Judicial Branch
    • Consolidate Quarterly Reports by the Judicial Branch
    • Hold weekly Judicial Branch meetings
    • Maintain the USG JudicialTeams folder
    • Organize and check-in with Justices
    • Work alongside the President and Vice President and various initiatives
    • Respond to emails within 48 hours (preferred 24 hours)

    Finance Committee Chair (elected Senator appointed to Finance Committee Chair role by USG President, following USG elections.)
    Compensation

    • Serves as a temporary, non-benefitted monthly employee
    • $4,800 per academic year / $533.33 monthly

    Responsibilities

    • Oversee the Finance Committee 
    • Process incoming funding requests 
    • Maintain accurate and detailed records about USG spending 
    • Oversee the creation of the budget during each school year 
    • Hold weekly meetings outside of Senate meetings to conduct Finance Committee business 
    • Hold 4 office hours a week for student walk in questions/concerns 
    • Serve as a direct resource for all student orgs 
    • Meet regularly with SAIE Budget Officers to ensure proper expenditures and address any concerns 
    • Respond to emails within 48 hours (preferred 24 hours) 
       

    Student Organizations Committee Chair (elected Senator appointed to Student Organizations Committee Chair role by USG President, following USG elections)
    Compensation:

    • Serves as a temporary, non-benefitted monthly employee
    • $4,800 per academic year / $533.33 monthly

    Responsibilities:

    • Oversee the Student Org Committee 
    • Process org renewals, new org applications, and ongoing activity checks 
    • Maintain accurate and detailed records about RSO’s 
    • Serve as the primary resource for student orgs 
    • Hold regular weekly office hours for student walk in questions/concerns 
    • Hold weekly student org committee meetings outside of Senate meetings 
    • Respond to emails within 48 hours (preferred 24 hours) 
       

    Diversity Committee Chair (elected by undergraduate student body during USG Elections)
    Compensation

    • Serves as a temporary, non-benefitted monthly employee
    • $4,800 per academic year / $533.33 monthly

    Responsibilities

    • Sits on various institution wide committees 
    • Attend Senate meetings 
    • Conduct meetings with Diversity Committee (DivCom) outside of regular Senate meetings 
    • Hold regular weekly office hours for student walk in questions/concerns 
    • Oversee the operations of DivCom 
    • Attend meetings with Pro-Tempore 
    • Respond to emails within 48 hours (preferred 24 hours) 

     

    Sustainability Committee Chair (elected Senator appointed to Sustainability Committee Chair role by USG President, following USG elections)

    • Sits on various institution wide committees 
    • Attend Senate meetings

    Student Living, Safety and Wellbeing Committee Chair (elected Senator appointed to Student Living, Safety, & Wellbeing Committee Chair role by USG President, following USG elections)
    Compensation

    • $3,840 per academic year / $426.67 monthly

    Responsibilities:

    • Sits on various institution wide committees 
    • Attend Senate meetings 
    • Hold regular weekly office hours for student walk in questions/concerns 
    • Oversee operations of Student Living, Safety and Wellbeing committee
    • Address concerns of student health, wellness, and safety
    • Meet with appropriate correspondents including but not limited to Sodexo, HCC, Campus Safety Title IX etc.
    • Attend meetings with Pro-Tempore 
    • Respond to emails within 48 hours (preferred 24 hours) 
       

    Senate Affairs Committee Chair / Election Commissioner (elected senator, appointed to Senate Affairs Committee Chair role by USG President, following USG elections)
    Compensation

    • Serves as a temporary, non-benefitted monthly employee
    • $2,880 per academic year / $320.00 monthly

    Responsibilities

    • Maintain up-to-date bylaws and constitutional records, making updates to the living document following the passage of legislation in Senate meetings
    • Attend Senate meetings
    • Oversee the entire election process for all elections during the academic year
    • Serve as the primary contact for candidates 
    • Maintain swift and consistent correspondence with candidates 
    • Be able to work late/early as needed 
    • Able to manage multiple priorities in a calm and efficient manner 
    • Respond to emails within 24 hours
       

    Faculty and Academic Affairs Chair (elected Senator, appointed by USG President, following USG elections)
    Compensation

    • Serves as a temporary, non-benefitted monthly employee
    • $2,880 per academic year / $320.00 monthly

    Responsibilities

    • Attend meetings of the Faculty Senate 
    • Attend meetings of the Staff Advisory Council 
    • Attend Undergraduate Council Meetings 
    • Attend Senate meetings 
    • Hold regular weekly office hours for student walk in questions/concerns 
    • Hold meetings with FAAC Committee outside Senate meetings as needed 
    • Attend meetings with Pro-Tempore

    International Students Committee Chair (elected by International undergraduate student body during USG Elections)

    • Serves as a temporary, non-benefitted monthly employee

    Responsibilities:

    • Call regular meetings with the International House and Internationalization Council
