Executive Director of Diversity Enrollment and Community Partnerships

Miriam Tapia Salinas

¡Welcome, Bienvenidos! I have the pleasure of serving as the Executive Director for Diversity Enrollment and Community Partnerships here at the University of Denver, entering into my 10th year on staff! Also an alumna of DU, I completed my Master's Degree in Higher Education Administration through Morgridge College of Education @ DU with focuses in Leadership, Organizational Change and Diversity. I know the quality of the DU educational experience and enjoy sharing my student and staff experiences with prospective students from across the country and around the world!

My work in higher education is driven from my commitment to intellectual growth, college access and educational equity. I welcome the opportunity to interact with students who possess tremendous aspirations and seek a dynamic learning environment like DU from all backgrounds. I lead our Diversity & Access Team of recruiters specializing in service to first-generation, low-income and traditionally underrepresented students through the Admission and Enrollment processes. The teachings of Bell Hooks demonstrate my passion for the field of education when she states, 'I entered the classroom with the conviction that it was crucial for me and every other student to be an active participant, not a passive as the practice of freedom.... education that connects the will to know with the will to become.' In my role, I also enjoy building partnerships with educational organizations, locally and nationally, committed to building diversity and educational access pathways for underrepresented students. I try to stay engaged in the Colorado community and currently serve as president of a statewide organization committed to advancing the educational outcomes for Latino students (COCEAL). However, never losing sight of my family and cultural priorities, my most dynamic, fun and meaningful job is balancing career with my roles as a loving wife and proud mother of three handsome boys! Living in Colorado makes this easy with plenty of sunshine to stay active year-round and every major sports team to cheer on and great food all around!
