Miriam Tapia Salinas
Executive Director of Diversity Enrollment and Community Partnerships
¡Welcome, Bienvenidos! I have the pleasure of serving as the Director of Diversity Enrollment here at the University of Denver, entering into my fifth year on staff. My work in higher education is driven from my commitment to intellectual growth, college access and social justice. I welcome the opportunity to interact with students who possess tremendous aspirations and seek a dynamic learning environment like DU. The teachings of Bell Hooks demonstrate my passion for the field of education when she states, 'I entered the classroom with the conviction that it was crucial for me and every other student to be an active participant, not a passive consumer...education as the practice of freedom.... education that connects the will to know with the will to become. Learning is a place where paradise can be created.' Additionally, I seek opportunities to build partnership with educational organizations, both locally and nationally who are also committed to building diversity and access pathways for underrepresented students. I’m one course shy of completing my Master’s Degree in Higher Education through Morgridge College of Education, focused in Leadership, Organizational Change and Diversity. I'm also a proud mother of three boys, spanning infancy through the teen years which keep my husband and I busy, active and extremely fulfilled. Personally, I take advantage of the sunshine in Colorado through tennis and volleyball action year-round as well as snowboarding weekends in the winter. I also thrive in when exploring new cultural experiences, travel and truly enjoy GREAT FOOD whenever possible!
