Residence Hall Maintenance

The Residence Hall Maintenance division of the Department of Facilities Management & Planning is responsible for all general repairs to the windows, walls, floors, ceilings, doors, and roofs of DU's residence halls. They are also the first ones to call for residence hall electrical, plumbing, HVAC, lock/key, or preventative maintenance. The Residence Hall Maintenance staff is accountable for almost 950,000 square feet in 12 student residence halls, although external areas around the buildings are maintained by Grounds & Irrigation.

Students are responsible for day-to-day cleaning and maintenance of the rooms they are assigned. While our staff can assist with some routine room maintenance, the cost of repairing damage caused by improper care will be billed to the occupying students.

Emergencies and After-Hours Requests

Emergency on-call procedures are to be used after 4:30 p.m. as well as on weekends and holidays. It is the responsibility of the Department of Housing & Residential Education staff (Resident Assistant, Resident Manager, or Desk Manager) to determine whether a facility concern requires an immediate response after hours. The Graduate Resident Director on call will assist with this determination and dispatch the appropriate available staff to make repairs. Normal maintenance emergencies should be called into the Facilities Management customer service desk at 303-871-2200.
