Iranian vampire film "A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night" inspired Prof. Bernadette Calafell and her advisee to examine depictions of Iranian women in the film. Instead of being a victim, graduate advisee Shadee Abdi saw the film's protagonist as, “kind of a superhero … really trying to do good and fight the patriarchy.”
