Audition Requirements

Performance applicants will need to complete the graduate application and an audition before being offered admission to the Lamont School of Music. Select your area of study below to see full audition requirements.

Degree Requirements

The master of music in performance has emphases available in classical and jazz performance areas. Students take weekly one-hour lessons with their applied faculty, participate in ensembles, and take area-specific classes. They complete coursework in music theory and musicology and also must satisfy these non-coursework requirements:

  • One full-length performance recital
  • Final written project
  • Final oral comprehensive exam
  • Demonstration of graduate-level proficiency in the musicology and music theory proficiency exams
  • Convocation attendance
