Professional Biography
Dr. Benjamin “Benji” Xie is an Assistant Professor at the University of Denver Department of Computer Science and Affiliate Faculty with the Scrivner Institute of Public Policy. His research interest is in designing interactions with data and AI to foster learning opportunities and inform policy. To do so, he collaborates with local and state policymakers, nonprofits, and a rural high school in Colorado. He engages with computing education, human-computer interaction, and AI ethics research communities.
He was previously a Postdoctoral Fellow with Stanford University’s Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence (HAI) and McCoy Center for Ethics in Society. He completed his PhD at the University of Washington Information School, and his MEng and BS in computer science at MIT.
