Professional Biography

Dr. Nathan S. Evans is an Associate Teaching Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Faculty Director of the Cyber Security Master’s program at the University of Denver. Before joining DU in 2017, he worked as a Senior Principal Research Engineer at Symantec Research labs. His background is in computer security, specifically network security, and mostly teaches courses in the Master’s program for Cybersecurity such as ethical hacking, shell scripting, and computer organization. He is a strong proponent of local AI models and is an early adopter of “agentic” AI solutions. At DU has represents his department as a Faculty Senator, and is currently serving as one of the co-chairs in the department of computer science.
