This is an all-new program of music written by Rome Prize-winning composer Sean Friar for the Kuuskmann-Friar Duo. Featuring Grammy-nominated bassoonist Martin Kuuskmann and Friar on piano, their duo is part classical chamber ensemble and part band. With both instruments amplified and augmented with effects pedals, this program brings chamber music into the dynamic present with a varied and expressive program that draws influences from classical, rock, jazz, electronic, and ambient music.

Martin Kuuskmann is one of today’s leading solo instrumentalists; Sean Friar is a Rome Prize-winning composer and pianist who writes music for orchestras, wind ensembles, chamber ensembles, invented instruments, and electronics. On this performance, Friar will take a seat at the piano as he and Kuuskmann perform an program of Friar’s works.
