“Unbound” is a recital of instrumental music and art song celebrating women through music, including settings of Emile Brontë's poetry, music by women composers, women’s stories in song, and the world premiere of Nancy Williams’s “A Modern Witch.”

Nancy Williams has created an innovative and dynamic freelance career as a musician, composer, educator, and leadership coach. Her holistic approach to music is on the cutting edge and her eclectic skill set applies to a wide range of interests. She has performed with such groups as the San Diego Ballet and South Dakota Symphony Orchestra, various chamber ensembles, and as an international soloist. As a jazz artist, she’s worked with The Four Tops and The Temptations. Her compositions include commissions by Balinese Gamelan Raga Garnita, Sioux Falls Municipal Band, and Larkspur Reed Trio. Williams has served on the faculty of Northwestern, Dordt, and Chadron State colleges, and her book Woodwind Improvisatory Techniques of the Classical Era: A Pedagogy Method was published in 2021. Since receiving a Doctor of Arts in Clarinet Performance with a Musicology Secondary from the University of Northern Colorado, Williams has been based out of Rapid City, SD, where she serves as state chair for the International Clarinet Association and lives with her husband and five cats.

Angela Mitchell has performed extensively in opera and musical theatre for two decades, appearing with such companies as the Colorado Symphony, Loveland Opera Theatre, Cleveland Opera Theater, The Cleveland Opera, the Akron Symphony, Theatre in the Circle, French Creek Theater, Lorain Community Music Theater, Lone Star Lyric, and Opera in the Heights. Her recent operatic roles include Musetta in La Bohème, Nannetta in Falstaff, Miss Wordsworth in Albert Herring, and Mademoiselle Silberklang in The Impresario. Her musical theater credits include Agnes in I Do! I Do!, Cinderella in Into the Woods, and Emma in Jekyll & Hyde. As a strong proponent of contemporary music, Mitchell frequently collaborates with composers and gave the world premieres of Voice of the Lake by Margaret Brouwer and Sappho Fragments by Joel Zigman. She lives in Golden with her husband and son.

Anne Breeden, a native San Franciscan, has performed across the United States and internationally in many productions and performances. After graduating from Eastman School of Music with a Master’s degree in Chamber Music and Accompanying, she founded and ran a non-profit music organization serving the underserved in Chicago, while also on part-time faculty at DePaul University. Now in Denver, she has served on both Metro State University and Colorado State University faculties, and performs throughout the front range while teaching a large private piano studio. She has performed with members of the Metropolitan Opera, Chicago Opera Theatre, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, San Francisco Symphony and Colorado Symphony. A specialist in organizing home concert series, Anne has created many intimate evenings for music lovers of every kind for over 25 years. She lives in Littleton, CO with her husband, daughter, cat and four chickens.
