Dr. Steve Wilson, chair of the Department of Music and professor of trombone at the University of Texas at El Paso, will share his work with the El Paso community following the 2019 mass shooting at a local Walmart store that killed 23 people. Authorities later identified the attack as an act of domestic terrorism and hate crime against the Latino community. Wilson and colleagues across El Paso’s music community collaborated to commission and produce the El Paso Requiem, performed in October 2021, to honor the victims and their families and help heal a grieving community.

A reception with light refreshments will start at 6 p.m. and the program will begin at 7 p.m.
