COMN 2700-5: Building Unity Through Communication: Establishing Cross-Cultural Connection (CRN 5814)

This community engaged learning course examines how communication promotes tolerance and understanding among people of different religious, racial and ethnic backgrounds. Through collaboration, compassion, dialogue, and cultural humility, we will design and distribute a reimagined model of a cross-cultural event to be utilized at the University of Denver and other universities across North America. We join forces with the Colorado Sikh community to create this space for uniting people regardless of race, religion, culture, gender, place of origin, or sexual orientation.

Students will produce a shared experience focused on our uniting humanitarian principles, values, and beliefs to nurture mutual respect and collaboration. This course explores a range of communication concepts and theories such as organizational and strategic communication skills. The course concludes with marketing and community outreach campaigns. Asynchronous activities available to support athletic and flexible scheduling.
