Expired Links in Salesforce Marketing Cloud Emails

Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SFMC) is the University of Denver’s primary email communication system. On Jan. 21, 2026, Salesforce introduced a security update and later in the week, there were reported problems with links. After working to troubleshoot this issue, it was determined that on Jan. 23 Salesforce made the decision to expire all links in all emails sent on or prior to Jan. 21 to address an open security vulnerability. Salesforce did not provide advance notice of this action and this broke links in SFMC communications sent prior to Jan. 21. At DU, that impacts hundreds of communications over the past two years. This is an issue that’s affected institutions and businesses across the country.

What are the options?

If you are searching for a working link from an email sent through SFMC, some are archived on du.edu.

Any emails sent on or after 4:00 p.m. on Jan. 21, 2026 should not be affected. SFMC specialists and administrators will be receiving communication with more information. If you have ongoing issues, please submit a ticket to the IT Help Center.
