Colorado law provides that, if an employee does not have three or more hours off between the time of opening and the time of closing of the polls on the day of the election when they are not required to be on the job, the employee must be allowed to leave work for a period of two (2) hours during the time the polls are open. (The two hours don't have to be consecutive.) An eligible employee must request this time off prior to the day of the election.

The University may specify the hours during which the employee may be absent, provided that the employee may request that the hours be at the beginning or end of the work shift. This time off, if requested and approved, will be paid.

Currently, the polls in Colorado are open from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm.
