A beautiful late-summer day provided an excellent backdrop for the fourth annual Crimson Classic. About 800 people registered for Wednesday’s 5K run and 1.5 mile walk. The event brings together students, faculty and staff during the first week of school.

Each year the University of Denver works with the community to promote local vendors and companies to provide everything from water, snacks and even sunscreen for runners and walkers. This year’s sponsors included Kaiser Permanente, Lockton Companies and TIAA.

The event was hosted by Provost Gregg Kvistad and Vice Chancellor Amy King. Campus Safety arranged for a military fly-over.

In the men’s race, this year's top finishers were Simon Zink, John Mallory and David Stewart. On the women’s side, Marit Tegelaar, Laura Brill and Molly Smith were the top finishers.
