Dear community members,

I’m writing this issue of Reflections with a particular audience in mind: you, DU’s students!

While for many on campus (especially DU’s staff) summer doesn’t look remarkably different than other quarters, for students it is a season of change, fun, and opportunity. Whether you're staying in Denver, heading home, or traveling somewhere new, I hope this season offers you time to rest, explore, and pursue what matters most to you—individually and with your community.

This year, I encourage you to consider Summer with DU

We know that DU students are incredibly hard-working and are very passionate about their studies. I know many of you ask faculty and mentors how to make the most of your summers, whether you plan to spend them here in Denver, at home, or across the globe.

DU offers more than 200 exciting summer term classes with flexible options. With summer courses, students can lighten their load during the academic year and explore new subjects. The emphasis is on making the world your classroom given that remote study options are available. To learn more, I encourage you to check out the Summer with DU website, which also includes links to register for classes.

Of course, your summers are about more than coursework. If you’re planning to stay in Denver in the coming months, there are many exciting things to do. From Denver’s vibrant city life to the mountains, there are many restaurants, parks, art galleries, music venues, and hiking trails to explore. If you are looking for ideas, the DU Newsroom has shared articles on interesting sites to visit in the city:

Whatever this summer holds for you, I hope it is a good one. If you are graduating this year, congratulations! I look forward to seeing you at commencement in a few weeks.

Best wishes,

Jeremy Haefner
