HRIC Hosts Events to Celebrate Disability Employment Awareness Month
The University of Denver is committed to living our values of diversity and inclusion. We recognize that our community and institutional success is dependent on how well we engage and embrace the rich diversity of our faculty, staff, administrators, students and alumni.
This month, HRIC is proud to present two events in recognition of National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM). NDEAM raises awareness about disability employment issues and celebrates the many and varied contributions of America's workers with disabilities. The theme for 2018 is "America’s Workforce: Empowering All."
The October Lunch & Learn will focus our attention on expanding and improving employment opportunities and experiences for the disability community. Three members of the Denver disability community will present their perspectives regarding ideas or initiatives to fully extend our commitment of Inclusive Excellence to these community members.
The panelists will include:
William Estrada, president and CEO of TEAM EEI, has been in the adaptive technology and employment of people with disabilities field for over twenty-seven years. In need of quality and professional services at one time himself, Estrada developed TEAM EEI, where the main focus is the success of their clients who have a variety of disabilities
Maria Armstrong, the first director of the Disability Services Program and founder of the Learning Effectiveness Program, who retired from the University of Denver after twenty-five years of service
