Welcome back!  I hope everyone had a marvelous holiday break.  I look forward to our new term and to seeing you in the days and weeks to come.

I’m writing now to share with you news of the appointment of our new Associate Vice Chancellor for Equal Opportunity and Title IX (EOIX), Marti McCaleb, J.D., who will be joining us from Stanford University, beginning next Monday, January 8.

We are thrilled to welcome AVC McCaleb, who brings significant equal opportunity and Title IX experience with her to DU, not only from Stanford University, where she has served as the Deputy Title IX Coordinator and Director of Sexual Harassment and Assault Response and Education, but also from Emory University, where Marti served as a Title IX Coordinator and Training Specialist.  Prior to that, Marti served as Civil Rights and Title IX Coordinator at Middlebury College in Vermont and practiced employment discrimination and civil rights law in Seattle.  We are very pleased to have her join us!

AVC McCaleb will succeed Howard Kallem and Lin-Chi Wang, who have very ably served DU as Interim AVC for EOIX and Interim Deputy Coordinator since Spring 2023, following Emily Babb’s move to Northwestern University.  I am delighted to have this opportunity to thank Howie and Lin-Chi for all of their tremendously thoughtful work to support our DU community over these last many months.  Howie and Lin-Chi will remain at DU through the end of the month to facilitate a smooth transition.

Likewise, I am pleased to salute Molly Hooker, who served as the Interim Title IX Coordinator since last spring.  Molly has significantly supported the Office of Equal Opportunity and Title IX during this period, and always!  Molly will return to her position as Deputy Title IX Coordinator -- we are so fortunate to have someone of Molly’s caliber and commitment in the DU community.

Thank you also to our excellent search committee, led very ably by Beth Robischon, Senior Associate General Counsel, and supported by Susan VanGilder, Carly Rose DiGiovanni, and Danielle Mebert of Storbeck Search, as well as by Taylor Dybdahl within the Office of General Counsel:

  • Belinda Becker-Jacob
  • Shevene Cole
  • Kristin Deal
  • Waltrina DeFrantz-Dufor
  • Joshua Kaufman
  • Rachael Liberman
  • Kristine McCaslin
  • Jim Noone
  • D-L Stewart
  • Frances (“Frankie”) Stroud
  • Rachael Williams

Thank you to all in our community who participated in this search.  Our candidates commented very favorably on how impressed they were by the degree of interest taken, and support shown, for our commitment to equal opportunity and Title IX here at DU and to our work to identify our next AVC for EOIX.

Please join me in welcoming our new Associate Vice Chancellor for Equal Opportunity and Title IX, Marti McCaleb!

With warm regards for the start of the new term,

Mary Clark
