On Monday, Jan. 9, the University of Denver will kick off a new campaign that encompasses key University-sponsored events promoting inclusivity, diversity and equity. OneDU Presents offers students, faculty, staff and community members more than 58 hours of inclusive excellence training, multicultural and international programming, professional- and life-skills training, and community building. The Diversity Summit, Women’s Conference, Internationalization Summit, New Beginnings Pow Wow, Sexual Assault Awareness Events and Sustainability Summit are some of the University-wide events coordinated under the OneDU Presents umbrella.

“The events contribute to the OneDU initiative by creating a diverse, ethical, culturally and intellectually vibrant campus community through intentional programming, professional development and creating environments for critical conversations and exploration,” says Johanna Leyba, associate vice chancellor and executive director of the Center for Multicultural Excellence.

OneDU stresses the importance of open dialogue, accountability, acceptance and respect. The goal of the OneDU Presents events is to bring together many different viewpoints and world experiences while encouraging the community to engage in open, civil discourse that is free from judgement over the course of the academic year.

Monday’s kickoff will take place at 11:15 a.m. on the Driscoll Green. There will be cupcakes, cocoa and music. The event will wrap up with a balloon release. Everyone in attendance will be encouraged to attach a message to the balloons with their dreams for a diverse and inclusive OneDU.

The DU community also will be encouraged to register for the Diversity Summit, which takes place Jan. 19–20. The first 250 registrants who attend the chancellor’s luncheon during the summit will receive a OneDU Presents t-shirt. If you are interested in registering, click here.
