Join us on Friday, Jan. 31 to celebrate the topping out of the Burwell Center for Career Achievement. Members of the DU community are encouraged to stop by the Burwell Center between 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. to sign the beam that will be placed in the building during the ceremony. At 1 p.m., the ceremonial placing of one of the final beams of the building will mark the last stages of construction and the imminent opening of this new career achievement home for students and alumni.

The Burwell Center, named in honor of the generosity of Barbara Burwell and her family, will elevate our innovative and nationally recognized career development and alumni initiatives. It will enhance DU’s capacity to provide career and professional development services to students in all stages of their education, while also serving as a distinct welcoming place for alumni visiting campus. Additionally, employers who are interested in recruiting DU talent will find in the Burwell Center an ideal space for micro career fairs and on-campus interviews.

The building also represents the University’s commitment to sustainability, with features that include a cross-laminated timber structure and a solar roof. The building will be one of the first LEED Platinum V4 buildings in Colorado. Additionally, this building will become a learning lab for students in academic programs across campus as they monitor building energy usage and conduct long-term research on the energy performance of timber structures.

Mark your calendar and join us in this celebration at the Burwell Center at 1:00 p.m. on January 31!
