The mental health application market is saturated with for-profit applications that fail to effectually address mental health concerns because they lack academically-sound, evidence-based resources. The DiscoverU application seeks to offset the second pandemic, a mental health pandemic, through cutting-edge knowledge and resources, targeting Colorado youth. In collaboration with the Graduate School of Professional Psychology, a team from the Ritchie School of Computer Science & Engineering is developing the application interface to support the experience and resources provided. The theme and interface of the app is being designed intentionally to support the Colorado theme of the app through calming mountain and nature design elements. Following the release of the application, the goal is for DiscoverU give youth the tools to manage their mental health and act as a comprehensive resource that provides care across a spectrum, from prevention and education to service delivery.
