Degree Requirements
The master of music in composition has two possible emphases: classical or jazz. For either, students take classes in music theory, musicology, and orchestration.
Students will participate in ensembles and also complete these non-coursework requirements:
- Final oral and written comprehensive exams
- Demonstration of graduate-level proficiency in the musicology and music theory proficiency exams
- Submission of at least one composition for every end-of-quarter Composer's Series concert
- Convocation attendance
