Understanding the legal aspects of various highly regulated areas such as financial services, human resources, health care and corporate compliance is increasingly important. Sturm College of Law's Master of Legal Studies (MLS) program is designed for students who wish to deepen their understanding of legal issues without pursuing a three-year law degree. The MLS degree allows them to enrich their education and employment with knowledge of specialized legal subjects, the legal system and legal reasoning.

The program teaches students how to effectively interact with lawyers, think critically about organizations and their governing legal structures and to understand the legal, legislative and regulatory landscapes in which they operate. A formal dual degree with Master of Social Work is also available to interested participants.
