Pedestrian Safety Tips:

  • Stay alert and watch for vehicles
  • Don’t assume a driver sees you
  • Stay off your phone when crossing the street and watch out for distractions
    • If you’re listening to music, keep one ear out
  • Always use crosswalks when available and be visible
  • Denver is growing! With the influx of construction, be careful around work zones and construction equipment
  • Obey all traffic laws. If no sidewalks are presents, walk against the direction of traffic so you can see oncoming vehicles

 

Bike Safety Tips

  • Protect your head: Always wear a helmet
  • Obey all traffic laws, signs and signals: Bicycles must follow the same rules of the road as other cars and vehicles
  • Use hand signals: Signals tell motorists what you intend to do. Signal as a matter of law, courtesy and self-protection
  • Always secure your bike with a U-lock and register your bike
  • Avoid distractions: Listening to music to talking to others makes it difficult to be aware of your surroundings
