The University of Denver has announced the designation of IAALS, the Institute for the Advancement of the American Legal System, as a Research and Reform Institute.

“We have long seen IAALS as a jewel for DU,” says Corinne Lengsfeld, senior vice provost for research and graduate education. “Through research and innovation, IAALS advances trust in the American legal system, makes it more accessible to more people, and is vital to the legal profession, legal education system, and to our nation as a whole.”

IAALS was founded at DU in 2006 by University of Denver Chancellor Emeritus Daniel L. Ritchie; Denver attorney and bar leader John E. Moye; business leader and philanthropist Charles C. Gates; and former Colorado Supreme Court Justice Rebecca Love Kourlis. Today, IAALS is a thriving national research and reform institute dedicated to continuous improvement and excellence in the American legal system, aiming to enhance access to justice and public trust.

DU has a long tradition of excellence when it comes to our centers and institutes. Whether their work is aimed locally or globally, our centers and institutes make every effort to be forces of good in the world.

And IAALS isn’t the only institute performing groundbreaking research at DU. IAALS’ prestigious designation was made separately from the announcement of six inaugural Research Institutes, which include:
The Butler Institute for Families (Graduate School of Social Work)

The Frederick S. Pardee Center for International Futures (Korbel School of International Studies)

The Institute for Human-Animal Connection (Graduate School of Social Work)

The Marsico Institute for Early Learning (Morgridge College of Education)

The Stress, Early Experience and Development Institute (College of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences)

The Institute for Relationship Science (College of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences)
