On Monday, the University of Denver celebrated the kickoff of OneDU Presents. The campaign encompasses six University-sponsored events promoting inclusivity, diversity and equity.

“For many years the campus has been hosting a series of events, but there has not been a collective effort to bring them together,” says Johanna Leyba, associate vice chancellor for Campus Life and Inclusive Excellence. “By bringing them together under one umbrella, we are creating this collective awareness and linking them together.”

The Diversity Summit, Women’s Conference, Sexual Assault Awareness Events, Internationalization Summit, Sustainability Summit and the New Beginnings Pow Wow are the six events currently coordinated under OneDU Presents. The University hopes to add to this list in the future.

Monday’s kickoff took place on the Driscoll Green and featured music, cupcakes and cocoa for anyone who stopped by. Everyone was encouraged to write a short message stating their dreams for a diverse and inclusive OneDU.

The vision of OneDU as an inclusive and engaging environment that supports traditions and events and that builds a strong community features prominently in DU’s strategic plan, DU IMPACT 2025.

“This event is just the first of many that we’re going to start seeing where we function collectively and where we build on each other’s knowledge and experience, share resources and jointly promote what we’ve got going on,” Leyba says.

The Diversity Summit is the first of the University-sponsored events highlighted by OneDU Presents. The deadline for registering for the summit is Friday, Jan. 13. For more information on the different sessions and to register to attend, click here.
