GIS and Unmanned Aircraft Systems

Certificate, Online

About this Program

Learn how to leverage the use of unmanned aircraft systems, or drones, for mapping and analysis. In this program, you’ll build foundational knowledge in geographic information systems, then learn to operate unmanned aircraft systems. Discover the science behind preparing aerial photography collected from drones and then how to analyze the results.

You can earn your certificate in GIS and unmanned aircraft systems entirely online at the College of Professional Studies. Credits earned in the certificate program can then apply to a six-course graduate certificate or towards a master’s degree in geographic information systems.

Experience

What is our collective relationship?

How do we access, create and live in community—individually, in small collectives and as a whole? As we share our stories, we learn about the real differences in the ways we experience community. As well, some patterns of our shared values have emerged. Activities include a Community Voices, increased presence of social media highlights, and featuring the work of our amazing community members via the You Rock! Awards program.

Evolve

How do our systems and structures reflect our values in action?

We create and adopt practices, and hold ourselves accountable to making decisions that reflect our communal commitments. We draw on the employee engagement and COACHE surveys and campus climate work, expand our use of inclusive pedagogy tools and resources through the Inclusive Teaching Practices website, and create community-led workshops and conversations for defining our shared values and how we imagine living them.

The Best of 2019

As we say goodbye to 2019, let's take a look back at our most-read stories of the year, highlighting University news, the DU Field Notes Series, faculty and staff, alumni, student and athlete stories.

Summer Traditions

Newly appointed Chancellor Jeremy Haefner is a fixture in DU's summer traditions. During these months, he can be seen celebrating the summer graduating class, cooling off with watermelon mojito popsicles at the staff appreciation lunch, welcoming prospective student visitors and walking along our beautiful campus grounds.

Continuing Excellence

The Board of Trustees enthusiastically voted to appoint Jeremy Haefner as DU's 19th chancellor, effective July 15, 2019. A national thought leader, great communicator, and individual committed to expanding our inclusive community and shared values, Haefner has the full support of the DU community.

A Warm Welcome

On Wednesday, July 17, more than 500 members of the University of Denver community gathered in the Fritz Knoebel School of Hospitality Management to welcome the University's 19th chancellor, Jeremy Haefner. He mingled with the crowd before sharing his excitement at becoming part of DU's enduring legacy.
