MA

About this Program

This program prepares our students to make sense of today's most pressing and complex economic issues—economic inequality, sustainability and the global economy. The degree is interdisciplinary, placing equal emphasis on theory, policy and qualitative as well as quantitative skills.

You'll collaborate with faculty to explore topics like...

  • Changes underway in the global economy
  • Drivers and consequences of economic development
  • The effect of globalization on state capacity, policy autonomy and national economic conditions
  • The relationship between economic, political and social outcomes, corporate governance, and competition
  • The interaction of interest groups, states and multilateral agreements and organizations

In the final year of the program, you'll prepare a significant capstone research memorandum which analyzes a policy problem and evaluates potential solutions. For this project you'll apply your skills to a real-world problem of your choosing.

PhD

About this Program

The University of Denver and the Iliff School of Theology's joint doctoral program in the study of religion prepares students for independent research and teaching in religious and theological studies. It's structured to provide a rigorous, individualized program of study and research for students planning careers in higher education or as public intellectuals. The program offers six areas of specialization, enabling students to work at the intersection of different disciplines:

  • Bible, Ancient Judaism, Early Christianity
  • Religion, Art, and Media
  • Social Justice, Race and Identity
  • Religion and Politics
  • Theories of Religion
  • Religion and the Human Experience

Another distinctive aspect of the program is that it draws on the strengths of faculty members throughout the University, as well as faculty at the Iliff School of Theology. This inter-institutional collaboration enables features such as interdisciplinary, team-taught research seminars, as well as special lectures and events. Students can pursue complementary certificate programs in pedagogy, religion and international studies, and Latinx studies. With the opportunity to develop skills and abilities across disciplines, many graduates find positions as faculty members or administrators in higher education, while others choose careers within religious organizations, institutes, counseling centers and government agencies.
