IRBNet

All DU investigators are required to utilize IRBNet, an electronic submission system, to submit human subjects research protocols for IRB review. The investigator must create their projects online and electronically sign the submission through IRBNet. Once a research project is formally submitted through IRBNet, the IRB Office is automatically notified via email.

Submitting a new research protocol for IRB review takes time. Investigators should plan on several weeks to gather and complete all of your material for submission and then allow at least 10 business days for a response from the IRB.

Steps for Submitting New Research Projects in IRBNet

  • Step 1: Register in IRBNet

Register at www.irbnet.org. Protocols submitted in hard copy or to an email address will not be reviewed. For additional guidance on registering as a new user, please refer to our how-to video and accompanying PDF guide for step-by-step instructions.

  • Step 2: Create a New Project

Login to IRBNet using your username and password. You will then be guided to the default "My Projects" screen. On this screen, click on "Create New Project" on the left side of your screen. For additional info, please refer to our how-to video and accompanying PDF guide.

  • Step 3: Upload Required Documents

After you have created a new project, you will be directed to the "Designer" page, where you can begin to add documents for this submission.

  • Step 4: Share & Sign Your Project Submission

Once you have attached all the necessary documents to your IRBNet package, identify and select which research team members require access to this project and select the tab "Share This Project." Before a project is submitted, the principal investigator must sign the package electronically by selecting the tab "Sign This Package."

**Students - please note, your Faculty Sponsor MUST also sign the package in IRBNet.**

  • Step 5: Submit Your Project

As the final step, and after the PI has signed the package, as well as the faculty sponsor if the PI is a student, click "Submit This Package." Select "University of Denver (DU) IRB, Denver, CO," and from the Submission Type dropdown menu, select "New Package" and submit.
