Schedule of Events
The Clothesline Project
This event began as a vehicle for women affected by violence to express their emotions by decorating a T-shirt, which is then hung on a clothesline to be viewed by others as a testimony to the problem of violence against women. Today, Clothesline Projects provide awareness about sexual and intimate partner violence, hate crimes and child abuse. We encourage survivors, friends of survivors and allies to design and decorate a T-shirt:

Take Back the Night – Tuesday, April 23, 7 p.m.
Take Back the Night (TBTN) has become internationally known as a visible, community-based way to take a stand against sexual violence and other forms of discriminatory violence. Our keynote speaker for DU's TBTN will be Dr. Jackson Katz with a multimedia presentation on "Men, Women, Sex and Violence." Dr. Katz is an educator, author, filmmaker, and social theorist who has been recognized as one of America's leading anti-sexist male activists. He is internationally recognized for his groundbreaking work in gender violence prevention education in schools, the sports culture and the military, as well as for his pioneering work in critical media literacy. DU's TBTN event is an invitation for the DU community to come together to raise awareness and take a stand against violence. Following the keynote, Katz and the Denver Gaels will lead the TBTN march at 8:30 p.m.
Lindsay Auditorium, Sturm Hall. Please RSVP.
Denim Day – Wednesday, April 24
Every year since 1999, Denim Day has been honored across the country. Denim Day is a rape prevention education campaign that asks community members to make a social statement with their fashion by wearing jeans on this day as a visible means of protest against misconceptions that surround sexual assault. To honor Denim Day, the University of Denver community is invited to wear jeans to promote awareness and take a stand against rape. CAPE will provide Denim Day buttons with information about the historical significance of the event.
