Come learn about xeriscaping with projectXERI – May 18, 12-3 pm, 1985 S. High Street

projectXERI(May 14, 2013) Come have some fun and support water conservation! projectXERI was started by five DU students from the Pioneer Leadership Program to help xeriscape DU-owned homes. Stop by between noon and 3 p.m. to enjoy snacks, drinks, music and kids' activities at their first planting day! Speak with professionals from Denver Water, learn helpful tips from landscape architects and learn more about xeriscaping, a style of landscape design that uses native, drought-resistant plants to conserve water.

Get your hands dirty by volunteering: shifts are 9 a.m. – noon and noon – 3 p.m. For more information visit the projectXERI Facebook page or email projectxeri@gmail.com.

DU's first farmer's market – May 23, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.

(May 14, 2013) Driven by the DU Environmental Team with help from the Center for Sustainability and Sodexo, DU's first farmer's market will take place on the Driscoll Green next week! Come by and support sustainable, local food sold by Grower's Organic, Colorado Aquaponics and Sodexo.

This inaugural event is made possible by the DU Environmental Team, the Center for Sustainability and Sodexo.

CSA fruit shares still available - Payment due by June 1

The University of Denver Bike to Work Challenge

Join the challenge, bike to work, log your miles, win prizes.

(April 30, 2013) Get a great form of exercise, lower your driving costs, reduce your carbon footprint and get free gear while helping move DU up the Colorado leaderboard in the 2013 National Bike Challenge! The challenge runs from May 1 – September 30.

It's simple: sign up online (make sure to select the University of Denver as your employer) and log your rides daily online or with the smartphone app.

Each day you ride your name 2013 Bike Challengewill be added to a monthly raffle. The more you ride the better your chances of winning (and the higher you move on the leaderboard for bragging rights)! Prizes include bicycle racks, tools, tune ups, lights, T-shirts, poster art and bikes.

The University of Denver challenge is open to all faculty, staff and students. All participants will receive a bike map, ankle strap (pant protector) and bike light!

On Wednesday, May 8, stop by the benefits fair for the ReFresh Breakfast: A healthy bike-in breakfast. Stop by to refuel after your ride to work, check out the monthly raffle prizes and chat with others in the challenge. Throughout the challenge DU is offering free basic tune ups and bike workshops on campus. Stay tuned to your DU Digest for details.
