It's that time of year again: high school graduations come to DU and may affect your parking

(May 14, 2013) Current parking permit holders: once again it is time for DU to host the area's high school graduations. Some of these events have the potential to make parking an issue on the north side of campus. A great deal of planning for these events has taken place and a plan has been put into place to mitigate the impact of the great number of visitors these graduations will bring to campus.

This year, high school graduations will occur during two periods: Thursday, May 16 through Saturday, May 25 and Thursday, May 30 through Wednesday, June 5. During these two periods there are either rehearsals or graduations every day. The majority of these events will have little or no impact on our daily operations. There are, however, several days where parking on the north side of campus could become an issue.

On these days if you routinely park in Lots 108, 103, C, T, W, and L we recommend you plan to arrive ahead of time for parking before these events begin. We also recommend planning to give yourself a few extra minutes to get to your classes/offices in the event your normal lot is full.

Important things to know:

1. You will NOT be refused entry or have to pay extra to park in your assigned Lot. However, there is no guarantee that your lot will have space for you.
2. Should your restricted lot be full, your permit will allow you to park in alternate lots on these days. These lots are H1, H2, N1, N2, O, and P. Parking will raise the gates on alternate lots on the south side of campus. If the gate is up your permit is valid for that day. We recommend you consider utilizing Lot P (Newman Center) because there is plenty of room to accommodate displaced parking patrons.
3. Your permit will NOT allow you to park in hourly metered lots for free. We still need to leave these spaces for our hourly visitors to campus.
4. NO PARKING, FIRE LANE, and ADA spaces will be strictly enforced.

"D" logo collection plan

(April 23, 2013) Over the past year, all University of Denver schools, colleges and units have been replacing their "D" logo materials with the shield logo. This sustainable approach to phasing out the logo has allowed the University to use up materials with the old logo on it. However, effective July 1, 2013, old logo materials should no longer be in use.

The Sustainability Council wants to make sure the University repurposes and recycles your remaining old logo materials in a sustainable fashion. The goal is to have no remaining old logo materials go to landfill.

Effective now through June 30, please bring your "D" logo materials to the following collection areas:

• All "D" logo stationery (paper stationery only; no envelopes and no cards): Quick Copy Center at the DU Bookstore
• All other "D" logo materials (excluding stationery): Center for Sustainability in Johnson-MacFarlane Hall, room 142

We are pleased to share with you the ways in which your materials will be repurposed or recycled.

• All old DU stationery will be repurposed into notepads and distributed for free to the campus community. This is made possible thanks to funding by the Undergraduate Sustainability Committee.
• All other paper products will be recycled at Alpine Recycling.
• All cloth materials will be donated to a nonprofit called Cloth to Clothing that will convert our materials into T-shirts.
• All swag items (such as pens, coffee mugs, folders, etc.) will be donated to international agencies.
