The majority of students will have at least one type of loan - student, auto, private - and it is important to understand repayment schedules and interest accrual. Regardless of the type of loan, keep the following tips in mind:

  • Keep track of how much you’re borrowing, and only borrow what you need
  • Understand the terms of your loans and keep all documents
  • Always make on-time payments
  • Communication with your loan servicer if you need to change your contact information, your student status (full-time to part-time, leave of absence, etc.), or you are struggling with repayment.
