Same-sex partner benefits

(June 30, 2015) As an employer, the University of Denver is in line with Friday’s Supreme Court ruling making same-sex marriages legal in all states. The University has for many years provided same-sex partner benefits in keeping with our commitment to an inclusive and welcoming community for all. One change that might be in order for same-sex partners is to review tax withholding; see this article for more information.

Look for your Kaiser, Delta Dental and Rocky Mountain Reserve cards in the mail

(June 30, 2015) The new benefits period begins July 1. If you elected a Kaiser or Delta Dental plan, or signed up for the Rocky Mountain Reserve health flex debit card, you should receive your new card(s) mailed to your home address in the next week. Please note: these cards often arrive in a plain white envelope. If you have questions, contact totalrewards@du.edu.

Performance management goal setting reminder

(June 30, 2015) It is important to get your goals in the new performance management system – WingSpan – before we roll out the appraisal forms. If you have questions about this process, either from an employee or manager perspective, please contact HR (303-871-7420) for assistance. HR will host training sessions when we implement the remainder of the appraisal forms and will also be available to provide customized training within your unit.

Conflict is unavoidable and has the power to be a real asset to any business. The need for creative and diverse opinions on any product or service is imperative. How we handle conflict determines if a workplace is stuck or thriving. This training examines the common causes of conflict and provides eight critical rules for preventing or defusing conflict in the workplace. Part one not required. Change: Managing your emotions and expectations
