September is National Preparedness Month

Heads Up. Denver

(Sept. 24, 2013) "Heads Up" is a campaign started by the city of Denver to reduce the amount of accidents involving pedestrians and automobiles city-wide. DU is partnering with the City of Denver to address the situation on and around our campus.

As you may recall, in the last 18 months there were two auto/pedestrian fatalities involving DU students. Campus Safety reports that there are numerous other auto/pedestrian incidents and auto/bicycle incidents on or around campus yearly. To make the campus safer for cyclists and pedestrians, the DU campus will be a "Heads Up" zone starting this week.

The Denver Police Department (DPD) is setting up photo radar vans around the Evans/University area, placing variable message boards around DU warning motorists of heavy pedestrian traffic, and DPD officers will also be on patrol in the area issuing warnings and citations to pedestrians and bikers who are not following appropriate laws.

Keep your head up as you're driving, walking or riding around campus.

The University of Denver Magazine website has been redesigned so users can easily find stories from the latest issue of the print magazine, as well as a regularly updated news section featuring "between issues" stories on campus life, academics, athletics, alumni and more.

The new site also features a downloadable PDF version of the print magazine that can be read on iPads and other tablet devices.

If you currently pull an RSS feed of DU Today news stories into your website, you will need to update your feed address. The new feed is at magazine.du.edu/feed.
