Access Options

GA4 Property Access and Roles

There are two levels of access for GA4 common DU property:

Viewer – everyone

Can see settings and data; can change which data appears in reports (e.g., add comparisons, add a secondary dimension); can see shared assets via the user interface.

Analyst – upon request

Can collaborate on shared assets (include Explorations for DU campus partners to be able to fetch needed data for their websites inside of the common DU property interface). Plus, this level of access can create, edit and delete certain property assets.

What reports and dashboards are available to me?

  • The Standard Analytics Dashboard is available to all campus partners and offers a thorough visual report of general website performance. This is the recommended dashboard for the majority of DU units. These reports can be delivered automatically via email with an accessible link that is updated every week or month. Click here to see an example.

  • The Custom Analytics Dashboard is a more in-depth report on general website performance, including custom metrics, such as conversions. These reports can be delivered automatically via email with an accessible link that is updated every month. There are parameters around the creation of custom dashboards and requests for these reports will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

  • GA4 Custom Reports (Explorations) are located in the Explore tab and include a selection of desired dimensions and metrics that you can see in a quick report overview in your preferred format (table, chart, etc.)

  • These quick custom reports allow you to see selected metrics without having to sift through other data that may not be useful to you. There is a bit of a learning curve, as you will need to build the report yourself and apply selections (filters) in order to get data for specific web pages. But, once you build your unique report, it can be saved for the future in the Explore tab.
