Parking and Mobility Services

Policies and Procedures

University of Denver Parking & Traffic Rules and Regulations are issued supplemental to all state laws and City and County ordinances. Under authority of the Vice Chancellor for Business and Financial Affairs, the Department of Parking and Mobility Services is charged with managing, promoting and regulating the efficient and safe conduct of vehicular parking on University property. Parking is limited on various parts of campus, thus this department has been authorized to manage the demand by formulating and enforcing parking rules and regulations, charging fees and fines, and otherwise regulating parking on campus.

Vehicle Operator Responsibility

Any person who owns, operates, and/or parks a motor vehicle on University property submits fully to all the rules and regulations outlined in this document. Faculty, staff, and students are responsible for knowing the regulations governing the operation of motor vehicles at the University of Denver as outlined in this website. Anyone operating a vehicle that is in violation of University parking policy will be held responsible for any such violation.

All parking and traffic rules and regulations are in effect 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including holidays and periods when school is not in session, or unless otherwise indicated by traffic control devices. Each operator of a vehicle using a University parking facility must display a proper permit when applicable while parking in a University parking space or pay the requisite fee for parking in a hourly paid parking lot. No person may legally use any University parking facility without payment of the appropriate fee(s) or without first obtaining and displaying when applicable the necessary parking permit.

The University of Denver's Office of Campus Safety strives to ensure the safety of vehicles and persons in University parking lots. However, thefts have occurred from campus lots. We urge members of the DU community to remove all valuable items before leaving their vehicle. The University of Denver is not responsible for and assumes no liability arising from fire, theft, damage to or loss of vehicle, or any article left therein. No bailment is created by the granting of any parking or operating privileges regarding a vehicle(s) on any property owned, leased, or otherwise controlled by the University of Denver.

Parking in Neighborhoods

The University of Denver desires to be a good neighbor to residents living around the perimeter of the campus and expects faculty, staff, students, and visitors to respect the rights of residents living near our campus. The University cooperates fully with property owners and the City and County of Denver in enforcing traffic and parking regulations in the area of our campus. It is recommended that all University of Denver employees and students utilize the University parking permit program or seek alternative transportation programs (i.e., RTD, carpooling, bicycling, or walking) rather than parking in residential areas. The immediate 3-block radius of the campus periphery has been designated a restricted parking area by the City of Denver. Parking is restricted to residents and their guests, and one-hour visitors only.
