Operator Assistant launches Sept. 2
(Aug. 26, 2014) Beginning Sept. 2, University Technology Services will begin using Operator Assistant, an automation of the Web-based directory we all use today. Initial rollout is to on-campus callers only; please help us test the system. Rather than utilizing the online directory, please dial zero from your on-campus telephone to be directed to Operator Assistant, where you will simply speak the name of the person or department you wish to reach. If you have a difficult to pronounce name, please call the system (you can reach it directly right now by dialing extension 17400) and search for yourself. The Operator Assistant will repeat the name before connecting the call; if you find that its pronunciation is incorrect, please contact Karen Ornelas at extension 14567 or email@example.com and we'll have your name properly recorded.
Employee communications survey

Denver Days @ DU a huge success!
(Aug. 12, 2014) Last week, more than 150 employees participated in Denver Days @ DU! Volunteers from across campus helped clean up the alleys in our neighborhood; we covered nearly six blocks in two days! Volunteers also came out to help transplant the fertile soil from the current Permaculture Garden to its new location. We collected items and letters for members of the military; care packages have already been sent to troops in Afghanistan. We also collected many items for GIVE Denver, the Food Bank of the Rockies and the Denver Dumb Friends League. University Advancement volunteered as a unit to paint the Washington Street Community Center. Thank you to everyone who volunteered and donated to the drives; and a special recognition for Student Financial Services, who had 100 percent staff participation during Denver Days!

DU taking steps to ensure student safety in light of Ebola outbreak
(Aug. 12, 2014) The University of Denver's study abroad programs annually send students to locations across the globe, so administrators for those programs are always on the alert for potential risks to the safety of our students, such as the current Ebola outbreak in West Africa. Steps are being taken to ensure the safety of our campus community, including monitoring the situation throughout West Africa, working with students whose study abroad programs are near the outbreak centered in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone to ensure their safety and checking the health status of students who may be returning to campus from the area. DU is accessing information sources such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and International SOS to stay on top of the situation.
